Phil Epp traveled to Kazakhstan in September 2009 as an American Artist Aboard, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Art in Embassies Program. Epp visited Astana, Shymkent, Turkestan and Almaty, Kazakhstan, from Sept. 13 through 20 to engage in programming that included lectures and master classes, with a variety of schools, cultural institutions, students and local artists.
